Tarnishedverse 101: Her Majesty's Huntsmen
Officially founded in the 1500s, the Huntsmen have always been around in some form or other, dedicating their lives to hunting down supernatural threats and killing them, whether or not they've done anything to deserve that fate. Hunting primarily throughout the British Empire, the Huntsmen have been known to follow their more dangerous prey into other countries, sometimes causing problems with the country they enter. In more modern times, the organization has taken a step back from their large scale exterminations, keeping to their territories and allowing supernaturals who have not caused trouble to live their lives in peace. Even so, they're still far stricter in their laws than UNNA's Last Line of Defense/Bureau of Supernatural Affairs in the modern era, banning supernaturals from joining the organization for fear of being tainted by them.
The Huntsmen are separated into two divisions: Agency Command and the Hunters. Agency Command is much like any government group, made up of agents who go out into the field, those who support them from the safety of headquarters and their safehouses, and those in charge, including the Archduke that heads the entire organization for the Queen. The Hunters are the big guns, only brought out in extreme circumstances when agents cannot get the job done and able to take down the most ferocious of supernatural creatures with ease. Those who work in Agency Command are give codenames, as to keep their identities from being used against them by their enemies, while the Hunters are only given a letter and number designation. When switching between Agency Command and the Hunters, they lose their previous designation and gain a new one befitting their new station.
The current Archduke, Christian Perrault, is the first Hunter to ever achieve Archduke status in the history of the organization, while also having the distinction of being the only supernatural that works for them, as he is a previously unknown nephilim to both himself and the organization as a whole. While he was perfectly content to follow the laws of the Huntsmen and step down from his position and be destroyed by his former subordinates, he was stopped by the only authority higher than himself, the Queen of England, and allowed to continue as her Archduke due to his previous years of service.
